The joint project CEDITRAA - Cultural Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation in Africa and Asia investigates how digitization is changing cultural production in sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia. The researchers will put music and film as examples of cultural expressions of an immaterial nature into focus. The study examines cultural production in Nigeria and South Korea - two countries whose cultural production is no longer dominated by the products of the U.S. culture industry. The Frankfurt and Mainz scholars are interested in the extent to which the new cultural industries with supraregional reach become a factor in the economic development of their regions of origin.
